The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a premier research-to-policy institution, generating evidence, strengthening research and related capacity in the African research and development ecosystem, and engaging policy to inform action on health and development. The Center is Africa-based and African-led, with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and a West Africa Regional Office (WARO), in Dakar, Senegal. APHRC seeks to drive change by developing strong African research leadership and promoting evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) across sub-Saharan Africa.
We are recruiting a Graphic Design Officer based in the Visibility Unit, which is responsible for the Center’s institutional communications and manages the APHRC brand.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Create innovative and engaging graphics, reports, manuals, and other design products that align with the Center’s goals and branding guidelines tailored to a range of audiences.
- Develop infographics and other visual aids to enhance the presentation of data and information.
- Assist in multimedia productions, including photography, videography, and editing.
- Manage multiple design tasks simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
- Provide general administrative support to communications activities as needed.
- Animation and Motion graphics will be an added advantage.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree/HND/Diploma in Graphic Design, animation, or any related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant post-qualification work experience.
- Proficiency in multimedia software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) or equivalent tools.
- Basic knowledge of data archiving techniques and software.
- Visual media skills, including use of still and video camera.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of design projects and styles.
- Solid understanding of design principles, typography, colour theory, and layout techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, creative, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work within a culturally diverse team.
