Are you passionate about making a positive impact? Do you have experience in securing grants for meaningful causes? CAMFEB (Career Mothers For Exclusive Breastfeeding) is looking for a volunteer Grants Officer to help us grow our initiatives and support breastfeeding mothers in Kenya.
As a volunteer, you’ll work alongside a dedicated team to drive projects that make a difference.

Help CAMFEB In:
1. Grant Research and Identification:
Research and identify potential funding opportunities from foundations, governmental agencies, corporations, and other sources that align with CAMFEB’s mission.

2. Grant Proposal Writing:
Assist in writing, editing, and submitting compelling grant proposals, ensuring all necessary information and documents are included.

3. Funding Strategy Development:
Collaborate with the CAMFEB team to develop funding strategies based on identified needs and project priorities.

4. Donor Relationship Management:
Build and maintain relationships with donors, funding bodies, and grant-making organizations. This includes preparing and sending updates or thank-you letters when necessary.

5. Grant Reporting:
Prepare reports on grant performance and ensure compliance with grant requirements, including tracking how funds are utilized and reporting outcomes to funders.

6. Database Management:
Keep records of all grant applications, submissions, deadlines, and reporting obligations organized and up to date.

7. Budgeting and Financial Oversight:
Assist in preparing grant budgets and ensuring that financial aspects of the grant proposals align with CAMFEB’s operational needs.

8. Collaborating with Teams:
Work with different departments to gather project details, budgets, and information needed for grant applications.

9. Grant Compliance Monitoring:
Monitor grant deliverables and ensure that CAMFEB meets all obligations and milestones outlined in grant agreements.

10. Stay Informed on Funding Trends:
Keep up to date on new funding trends, policies, and opportunities that could be beneficial for CAMFEB’s initiatives.

Grants Officer Volunteer Qualifications:

1. Educational Background:
– A degree or diploma in Nonprofit Management, Finance, Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Relevant experience in grant writing may be considered in lieu of formal education.

2. Experience in Grant Writing:
– Proven experience in writing successful grant proposals for non-profit organizations, government agencies, or other entities. Prior experience with donor relations or fundraising is a plus.

3. Strong Research Skills:
– Ability to identify and research funding opportunities, including understanding grant requirements and assessing organizational eligibility.

4. Excellent Communication Skills:
– Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, compelling, and persuasive proposals. Must also be comfortable liaising with donors and stakeholders.

5. Organizational and Time Management Skills:
– Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

6. Financial Acumen:
– Basic understanding of budgeting and financial management related to grants and proposals. Familiarity with preparing grant budgets is preferred.

7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite:
– Comfortable using Word, Excel, Google Docs, and Sheets for preparing proposals, reports, and tracking grant opportunities.

8. Team Player:
– Willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to a cooperative work environment. Experience in working with non-profit organizations is an added advantage.

9. High Ethical Standards and Discretion:
– Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism, especially when dealing with sensitive financial and organizational information.

10. Self-Motivated and Proactive:
– A self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative in researching and pursuing funding opportunities.
