JOB DESCRIPTION – General Worker-Average Body Weight
Department: Lake Operations
Report to: Average Body Weight Supervisor
Grade: GW
JOB OVERVIEW:
The General Worker-Average Body Weight is responsible for sampling fish, accurately counting samples on a daily basis as well as handling fish with care.
KEY DUTIES
- Counting, weighing and calculations must be done accurately.
- Co-ordinate with feeders so they know when their cages are to be sampled.
- Ensure that Nets are always handled with care to avoid damages.
- Ensure that Seining is done in a way that places minimal stress on the fish to avoid mortalities.
- Immediately report any identified issues with fish in a particular cage to the supervisor.
- Promote good housekeeping and hygiene practices and ensuring that the workspace is always neat and tidy at all times.
- Properly handle all the equipment used with care and kept in a safe custody.
- Adhere to Established Health and Safety policies in the Company.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education, Diploma or certificate in Fisheries and Aquaculture preferred
- Experience with cage farming is beneficial
- Must be able to swim

- Must be confident to give out instructions and lead a team
- Must show good endurance and persistence.
- Must have an eye for detail
- Must be willing to constantly learn more and develop their knowledge and skills
