Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The company is seeking an experienced General Manager – Retail Distribution to lead its retail distribution operations across the entire Tanzanian market. As a General Manager Retail Distribution, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to expand the retail business, overseeing the performance of the retail distribution network, and driving sales to achieve business growth targets. The General Manager Retail Distribution will report to the Chief Executive Officer and will be based in Dar es Salaam, with nationwide responsibilities.

Job Description:

• Driving Sales & Distribution Strategy for the individual life business.

• Recruitment and training of Sales staff as per staffing plan and business requirements.

• Driving product development strategy from product ideation, market feasibility study, pricing & development and launch of products with system readiness.

• Driving direct sales through online and digital platforms with clear focus on enhancing share of direct business to minimise distribution costs and increase reach.

• Driving sales through partnership channels such as bancassurance, brokers and agencies.

• Driving and managing retention of new customers with conversion target of 90% for the entire portfolio.

• Driving retail business profitability through increased production, optimised costs, growing online and digital share in the portfolio.

• Driving and managing end to end retail distribution process.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Minimum 15 years driving retail sales in a life insurance company.

• Handled a minimum Life Insurance sales portfolio of TZS 15 bn.

• At least 5 years’ experience of managing a profit centre function.

• At least 5 years’ experience of managing partnership channel either with a bank or a large broker.

• At least 10 years’ experience in handling distribution team of not less than 200 persons, across different locations, including remote teams.

• Experience of handling online/ digital sales will be an added advantage.

• Advanced level understanding of financial statements.

• Minimum qualification – Associate diploma from ACII UK or III India or LOMA USA; CIM Degree or MBA in Sales & Marketing or General Management; Graduate from a recognised University.
