Urban Greens Ltd is an agritech business focused on making hydroponics & aquaponics accessible to urban growers. We believe in transforming urban landscapes by providing sustainable and healthier food sources. By promoting urban food production, we aim to generate quality jobs, income, and benefit the climate and environment. With a passionate team of 16 individuals, we are currently operating 2 demofarms in Kampala and support a network of urban growers. This year, we will expand our network of growers to 30 urban farming sites. We are therefore seeking a Fresh Produce Account Officer to spearhead market expansion for our fresh produce and fish production.
Job Description:
As the Fresh Produce Account Manager at Urban Greens, you will play a crucial role in expanding our market reach and ensuring a steady offtake of fresh produce (vegetables and fish) from our aquaponics and hydroponics urban farming systems. You will be responsible for identifying target markets, establishing offtake contracts, negotiating prices with buyers, and fostering long-term relationships to drive growth and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
● Develop a sales strategy and identify and prioritize target markets for fresh produce and fish distribution.
● Monitor market trends and competitor activities to capitalize on opportunities.
● Develop and maintain offtake contracts with key buyers and distributors.
● Manage existing accounts and build strong, long-term relationships with
customers by ensuring timely deliveries, quality supply to meet customers requirements, and addressing customers concerns.
● Coordinate with production teams to ensure steady supply for sales
commitment.
● Provide timely and accurate sales forecasts and reports to management.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Marketing, or related field.
● 3-5 years experience in account management, sales, or business development, preferably with agricultural products and or food products.
● Strong negotiation and communication skills.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
● Knowledge of aquaponics/hydroponics systems and organic farming is a plus.
● Passion for sustainability, urban agriculture, healthy food.
