1). HOD, Mechanical Workshop

Job Summary

  • The Head of the Mechanical Workshop Department will oversee the technical repairs of faulty parts and components, as well as handle fabrications within the plant.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Select the appropriate tools, machines and materials to be used in preparation for machinery work.
  • Supervise and conduct repair, fabrication and reclamation of spare parts of all sections in the plant.
  • Ensure high availability of all workshop mechanical equipment and systems like machining and fabrication work equipment.
  • Minimize the cost of workshop maintenance and optimize equipment lifecycle cost.
  • Supervise maintenance measures in workshop and adhere to safety and quality norms.
  • Ensure availability of spares and other infrastructure for maintenance of workshop.
  • Plan resource requirements for workshop mechanical maintenance –manpower, materials and contract.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures relating to documentation and record keeping of equipment history
  • Conduct performance reviews of subordinates.
  • Prepare budgetary requirements for each year.
  • Prepare periodic reports for the attention of the Head of maintenance.
  • Implement data protection policies and practices of Egbin Power Plc.
  • Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws, and data protection policies.
  • Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessment as applicable to curb the risk during data processing operations.
  • Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy on assigned jobs, ensure the integration of the IMS requirements (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 & 45001:2018) into the departmental processes;
  • Engage, direct and support persons /units/departments to understand and identify hazards, risks, environmental aspects and Impacts as it is related to their jobs.
  • Ensure that the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 & 45001:2018) achieve its intended results within departmental processes.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of work experience with exposure to mechanical workshop engineering.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good technical knowledge of component repairs, machining/welding tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures for machining or welding and component repair.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and environmental aspects.
  • Knowledge of power plant equipment.
  • Knowledge of the power generation process.
  • Interpersonal skills and creativity.
  • Excellent (i.e. strong oral, written, interpersonal and illustrative) communication skills as the role requires interaction with different levels of professionals.

Job Summary

  • The Head of Department, Electrical Maintenance, oversees the maintenance, repair, and optimization of all electrical systems and equipment at Egbin Power Plc.
  • This role ensures electrical assets’ reliable and efficient operation, supports plant performance and adheres to safety and regulatory standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the availability, reliability, and safe operating condition of all electrical assets in Egbin Power plc.
  • Ensure the department is well structured with the right skill set and fit to meet plant performance and efficiency needs.
  • Benchmark maintenance activities with industry best practices.
  • Cascade business objectives to the electrical maintenance department objective.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews to align departmental performance with business objectives.
  • Manage the department’s material and services procurement process.
  • Train direct reports on budgeting and resources management.
  • Supervise budget planning, formulation, and control for the electrical department.
  • Effective management of both internal and external stakeholders (TCN, NERC, NEMSA, etc).
  • Ensure effective maintenance backlog management and scoping for plant overhauls and rehabilitation.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities have standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure the implementation of maintenance best practices and reliability-centred maintenance
  • Accountable for the department of human and material resources management.
  • Schedule reviews of the departmental process manual for continuous improvement.
  • Schedule reviews of SOPs and WIS for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure RCAS is performed on all failures and capas recommendations are implemented.
  • Implement the requirements of the Integrated Management Systems
  • Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy on assigned jobs, and ensure the integration of the IMS requirements (iso 9001:2015, 14001:2015 & 45001:2018) into the departmental processes.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Maintenance.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering.
  • Postgraduate/relevant professional qualification.
  • Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE)
  • Council for The Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) Registered Engineer
  • SMRP, CMRP Certification or other Relevant Certification.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience with at least five (5) years in a managerial role and significant exposure to Electrical maintenance of power plant operations.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Possess technical knowledge of all electrical systems in the power plant.
  • Good understanding of the operations and history of power plant equipment.
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures for Electrical maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance best practices and reliability-centred maintenance.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations in the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Quality and Safety Management Systems Implementation and Audit.

Job description

  • Conduct ongoing reviews of all operational processes and procedures.
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the company’s internal controls and compliance with regulations to ensure continuous improvement of the overall business operations of Egbin Power Plc.
  • Evaluate the internal control system in the company and recommend improvements for changes where necessary.
  • Responsible for conducting various audits and reviews with a key emphasis on corporate governance.
  • Partakes in audit procedures to verify that controls are in place.
  • Conducts validity tests on the effectiveness and efficiency of the control environment.
  • Identifies control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Research for updates on technical subjects required to support audits (e.g. Basel III, OSFI Guidelines, market risk, etc.)
  • Assist in preparing audit reports for management.
  • Assess, evaluate, and promote compliance with Egbin’s internal policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Audit Team Lead.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any relevant course
  • Professional certification is a must-have (e.g., CIA, ICAN, ACCA, etc.).
  • Zero (0) to two (2) years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
