EarthLungs Reforestation Foundation is a leader in sustainable forest management, agroforestry, and environmental conservation. We work closely with forest-adjacent communities and international partners to restore ecosystems, promote biodiversity, and combat deforestation. We are seeking a skilled Forestry Data Analyst to join our dynamic team and contribute to data-driven decision-making in forest management.
JOB PURPOSE:
As a Forestry Data Analyst, you will be responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing data related to forest ecosystems, biodiversity, and conservation efforts. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support forest management, restoration projects, and policy development using data insights. Your role will involve working with diverse datasets, including satellite imagery, remote sensing data, and ground-based surveys.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collect, process, and analyze forestry and environmental data from various sources, including satellite imagery, GIS tools, and field surveys.
- Conduct spatial analysis and mapping using GIS software to assess forest cover, land use, and biodiversity trends.
- Develop predictive models to forecast forest growth, deforestation risks, and the impact of climate change.
- Collaborate with forest management teams, researchers, and policymakers to provide data-driven insights for conservation efforts.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Ensure data quality and integrity in all analyses, maintaining accurate and organized datasets.
- Support the development of sustainable forestry practices through data analysis and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Data Science, Geography, or a related field.
- Experience with GIS software and spatial data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of remote sensing and satellite imagery processing.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., R, Python) and database management (e.g., SQL).
- Excellent data visualization skills using tools like Power BI, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of forest ecosystems, sustainable land use, and conservation practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in forestry or environmental projects is an advantage.
