The Role

ClimeTrek is looking for a Forest Assistant to help with the feasibility assessment of the REDD+ project and other land-based programs. The Forest Assistant will provide technical support and document all field-related data. Additionally, the assistant will collaborate with the team to achieve organizational goals and enhance community participation in forest activities.

The responsibilities will include assisting in the Feasibility Assessment for the REDD+ project and all ARR projects, but not limited to:

Responsibilities:

· Assist in developing the Feasibility Assessment Report for conservation and restoration projects, aligned with organizational objectives.

· Participate in field operations, including data collection, while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.

· Help collect and analyze data related to social and environmental safeguards.

· Support the preparation of regular project reports and documentation

· Consult with site leaders to develop site support plans and provide ongoing technical and site support.

· Regularly input and update data in the database.

· Produce technical reports and other project materials as requested.

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree/bachelor’s degree in forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental science

· Technical background and previous experience in developing land-based programs, Conservation and Afforestation projects, and Feasibility assessments, preferably related to Carbon projects.

· At least 2-4 years of relevant professional experience, preferably working for a Forestry and Environmental NGO, government, project developer, and/or validation/verification body.

· Understanding climate change mitigation strategies, climate/development finance, and an appreciation for the challenges and opportunities faced by practitioners of these arenas.

· Working experience with communities will be an added advantage, but not mandatory.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

· Ability to work within a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
