Finance volunteer

Description

The Finance volunteer receives direction and administrative supervision from the Finance Manager on assisting the Finance Department with functions such as data entry, scanning, filing, asset verification, reconciliation and administered according to Pathfinder and donor regulations and policies. Strives for operational excellence that enables Pathfinder to continue to grow; evaluate, develop and implement operational best practices in areas including data entry, scanning, filing, asset verification, reconciliation Builds constructive and effective relationships with team members and clients. Collaborates with other staff to support and coordinate Departmental functions.

Major Activities / Responsibilities

Recording, filing & Reconciliation

  • Scan documents financial documents.
  • Input transactions into the accounting system.
  • Reconcile transactions posted into Sirenic.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and end-of-project financial reports.
  • File financial documents.
  • Asset Verifications

Audit support

  • Provide auditors with requested information

Minimum Education and Work Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Management, or related – field, or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience that yields the required competencies
  • Field experience – University program

  • Finance and Accounting: Advanced knowledge of finance and accounting principles and practices for non-profit global organizations.
  • Budgeting: Ability to prepare and guide others in preparing budgets for
  • Risk Analysis and Forecasting: Proven ability to identify areas of risk, build cost assumptions, and forecast financial
  • Financial Reporting: Ability to develop and deliver required financial
  • Management and Supervision: Proven ability to direct, develop and supervise the work of others
  • Systems and Tools: Advanced knowledge of finance and accounting platforms.
  • Program and Project Planning and Management: Advanced skills in program and project management and planning to fulfill performance objectives, including the timely implementation and reporting of donor-funded program activities.
  • Operations and Financial Management: Advanced knowledge of operations and project financial oversight Presentation Skills: Ability to make presentations on results and products to small and large groups.
  • Community Relations: Advanced skills in facilitating working relationships between partners, government officials, and communities.

Minimally Required Organizational Competencies:

  • Software Applications: Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
  • Languages: Proven writing and speaking skills using Kiswahili and English language.
  • Communication and Influencing Skills: Proven ability to influence others through diplomacy and proven oral and written communication skills.
  • Passion for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Commitment to family planning, reproductive health services, gender, maternal, child health services, and eradication of harmful traditional practices.
  • Self-Management and Teamwork: Ability to work independently or as a member of the team, ability to thrive in a matrix organization, ability to be details-oriented, and ability to manage stress effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality on work related matters.
  • Flexibility to travel, when necessary, to support field operations
