About CCAK

Clean Cooking Association of Kenya (CCAK) is a membership association with members from both the private and public sector, representing the interests of its members and stakeholders engaged in providing clean and efficient cooking solutions in Kenya. CCAK is missioned as the sector champion influencing a suitable market environment and capacity development of its members and other stakeholders, enabling them to cause universal adoption of clean and efficient cooking solutions in Kenya. The Association has strengthened sector collaboration and coordination, improved policies, regulations and standards, and improved awareness.

CCAK has also strived to build solidarity amongst relevant stakeholders and created effective partnerships to ensure that the use of clean cookstoves and fuels is the norm in the Kenyan households and institutions. CCAK coordinates the cooking sector through its key pillar engagement with the private sector, government, partners and donors namely:

  1. Policy, Advocacy and Representation
  2. Research, Innovation and Knowledge Management
  3. Standards and Technical Support
  4. Partnerships and Market Strengthening
  5. Institutional Strengthening and Organizational Development.

 

CCAK is strategically placed to coordinate the sector in order to improve the enabling environment for business development of clean cooking technologies and fuels for improved adoption within households and institutions in Kenya.

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting: The Finance Officer will report directly to the National Coordinator

Purpose: To develop and implement key financial policies and procedures and manage the company’s financial operations.

Specifically, the Finance Officer will:

 

  1. Oversee sound and effective systems for project administration and operations, including grants, subcontracts, procurement, and compliance.
  2. Manage office and program financial resources while exercising proper financial controls.
  3. Prepare monthly reports, budget and control expenditure.
  4. Prepare and reconcile bank statements and accounts.
  5. Prepare all necessary information for annual returns and audit.
  6. Maintain accurate and complete financial transactions records and supporting documents.
  7. Ensure all statutory remittance and reporting requirements of the organization are made.
  8. Comply with Kenya Tax filing requirements and tax reporting by preparing tax returns and calculate taxes owed.
  9. Coordinate internal and external audits of financial and accounting records.
  10. Handling office administrative issues like book keeping and invoicing and maintaining a schedule of regular utility bills, office licenses and expenses.
  11. Any other duties assigned.

Qualifications 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics or related fields.
  2. Professional qualification CPA-K or equivalent.
  3. Must be a registered member of ICPAK.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required 

  1. Demonstrated financial management, analytical and computer skills, with emphasis on finance management, budgeting, accountability and financial analysis.
  2. Demonstrated experience in practical application of enterprise-wide computerized Financial Accounting systems (e.g. Sun Systems, SAP, Agresso, Navision). Sun Systems v6 experience preferable.
  3. Experience and high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  4. Strong leadership, finance, program, organizational management and communication skills.
  5. Proven ability to forge strong professional relationships and facilitate coordination with donors, implementing partners, county governments, and other stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
  6. Experience in capacity building and working with the public and private sectors, especially with national and county governments.
  7. Demonstrated experience leading teams to achieve successful project implementation, financial management, and reporting.
  8. Strategic and operational understanding of how to balance the need for strong controls and operational efficiency.
  9. Critical thinking and creativity.
  10. Experience of Board report presentation.
  11. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  12. Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Experience 

  1. 7 years work experience in a busy organization, private business or Non-Governmental Organization, out of which 3 should have been in a senior accountant position.
  2. Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and reporting.
  3. Strong understanding of Kenyan financial laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  4. Expertise in financial modeling and forecasting.
