We are seeking to recruit an experienced, dynamic and detail-oriented Finance Officer. He/she will be responsible for maintaining financial stability of projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory and donor requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance. He/she will work under the supervision of Head of Finance and Administration. If you are a dedicated finance professional that can make a difference, this is an excellent challenge for you.
Duties and Responsibilities
1) Implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to maintain the integrity of financial transactions and reporting.
2) Manage daily financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
3) Preparing accurate and timely periodic (monthly, quarterly, annual) financial reports for management and organisational donors.
4) Monitor budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring adherence to approved budgets and highlighting variances.
5) Work closely with the programs team to develop project budgets and provide financial support throughout the project lifecycle.
6) Ensure compliance to regulatory and legal requirements including tax filings and reporting obligations.
7) Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
8) Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision making. You should also have excellent organizational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks.
9) Assist in managing the organisation’s procurement and disposal processes.
10) Any other duties assigned by the Head of Finance and Administration.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, or other business-related qualification with a bias in accounting, is essential.
- Accounting professional certification such as CPA (at least level 1) will be an added advantage.
- At least five (05) years’ of professional experience three of which should be in at similar position with a reputable organization preferably in a Non-Governmental Organization.
Requisite Knowledge and Skills
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• In-depth knowledge of financial management principles, practices and procedures including accounting standards and regulations and knowledge of donor funded projects.
• Proven ability to work effectively with others to achieve results.
• Build Relationships – ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization.
• Knowledge of accounting software particularly QuickBooks and Excel, is a MUST.
• Grants Management experience is an added advantage.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize work and meet deadlines in a high pressure fast-paced environment.
• Personal qualities of integrity, honesty, credibility and dedication to the mission of ACFIM.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
