About the role:
The Finance & Operations Associate is responsible for the finance and general operational support for B Lab Africa. This includes maintaining accurate records, processes and ensuring compliance with B Lab Africa’s policies; and applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
Finance Functions
● Managing budgets, cash flow and cash forecasts
● Bookkeeping
o Entering financial transactions into QuickBooks, analyzing and running reports, as well as recording journal entries
o Updating and reconciling accounting information for reporting and statements generation from Quickbooks
o Conducting monthly reconciliations and resolving accounts discrepancies
● Managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
● Ensuring and maintaining statutory compliance
● Overseeing client accounts by creating, sending, and following up on invoices for timely payments
● Any other duties as assigned by Management
Operations Functions
● Office administration work
o Setting up team meetings and team engagement events, as well as providing ongoing assistance during events
o Coordinating logistics, preparing forms, job descriptions and contracts
o Managing the organization’s general email account and company google drive
o Managing the office calendar
o Taking meeting minutes
● Providing program management admin support to the Business Development team
● B Lab Africa Summit admin support
o Draft visa letters as needed
o Assist with drafting partnership agreements and contracts
o Assistance with attendee registration and survey forms and data collection
o Assistance with official invitation letters (for speakers and panelists)
● Supporting fundraising initiatives by developing budgets in support of them
● Monthly tracking and management of employee leave days
● Participating in any working groups organized by B Lab Global, that are related to this role.
● Providing any other technical and administrative support as required
● Any other duties as assigned by Management
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or any other related course;
● Possess Professional Accountancy Qualifications (CPA /ACCA )
● At least 3-5 years’ experience as a Finance Administrator
● At least 3-5 years’ experience in conducting audits/evaluations and business analysis
● Passion and interest in impact and sustainability
● Ability to define goals and assign various tasks to the team
● Practical experience working with accounting software, particularly QuickBooks
● Excellent communication and teamwork skills – with the ability to collaborate and work well with others regardless of position, background or geographical location
● Ability and experience in maintaining high level of compliance and confidentiality
● Good organizational and time management skills
● Ability to work well under pressure and meet all deadlines
● Highly organized with attention to detail
● Demonstrates positive and upbeat attitude
● Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and manage uncertainty
