
The Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (ACEK) is a membership organization founded in 1968. We are dedicated to advancing the consulting engineering profession, promoting cooperation among consulting engineers, and upholding high standards within the industry. As an affiliate of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), ACEK plays a key role in engineering policy, advocacy, and member support across Kenya.

JOB DESCRIPTION
ACEK seeks a dynamic Finance and Business Manager to support our financial management and business development functions. This role is essential in helping ACEK achieve its strategic objectives and strengthen the association’s financial health. The role encompasses five core areas:
- Financial Management and Accounting
- Resource Mobilization
- Business Environment Enhancement for ACEK Members
- Marketing of ACEK Services and Programs
- ACEK Management Participation
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Finance Management and Accounting
i. Develop, implement, and oversee ACEK’s financial plan, budgeting, and forecasting. ii. Manage business development activities for financial stability and growth.
iii. Oversee bookkeeping, ensuring financial integrity in profit and loss statements, cash flow, and balance sheets.
iv. Reconcile budget vs. actual financial results, addressing variances.
V. Ensure timely follow-up on receivables, outstanding debts, and membership subscriptions, including sending monthly statements to members and other parties.
vi. Offer financial support and insight to management for decision-making.
vii. Enhance financial processes for revenue and profitability improvement.
viii. Identify areas for process improvement to meet financial objectives.
2. Resource Mobilization
i. Research, identify, and develop new business opportunities and revenue streams.
ii. Develop strategic partnerships to support ACEK’s mission and funding needs.
iii. Set and achieve goals for resource mobilization.
3. Enhancing the Business Environment for Members
i. Build and nurture relationships with ACEK members to understand and support their needs.
ii. Represent ACEK at industry events and meetings that add value to members.
4. Marketing of ACEK
i. Drive ACEK’s strategic marketing efforts to promote services and programs.
ii. Coordinate revenue collection activities and ensure timely updates on trends in the consulting engineering sector.
iii. Develop effective marketing strategies to raise ACEK’s profile in the industry.
5. Participation in ACEK Management
i. Collaborate with ACEK leadership to support ACEK’s strategic initiatives.
ii. Represent ACEK at relevant conferences, seminars, and events.
iii. Recommend and attend key meetings and engagements for ACEK’s growth and benefit.
6. Additional Responsibilities
1. Perform any other duties as assigned by the CEO or ACEK Council.
11. Ensure compliance with ACEK policies and uphold ACEK’s values and mission.
iii. Support ACEK’s overall administrative and operational activities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- A professional qualification such as CPA/(K)
- Proven experience in finance, resource mobilization, business development, or marketing, ideally within a professional association or membership organization.
- Strong financial analysis and strategic planning skills.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Knowledge of the consulting engineering industry or experience in similar professional sectors is an asset.
