Title: Finance and Administration Officer _ Kenya

Duration: 1 year’s contract (renewal based on performance)

Reporting line: Regional Finance Manager

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

POSITION OVERVIEW

Objective

The Finance and Administration Officer assists the Finance team in managing, processing, and troubleshooting various accounts and transactions. From time to time the Finance and Administration Officer may be required to provide administrative support.

Position in the Organisation

The Finance and Administration Officer reports directly to the Regional Finance Manager and works closely with the Regional Senior Finance Manager and the in-country Finance and Administration representatives in the Regional Office. At the country office level, the Finance Officer works closely with the Country (Projects) Manager, Regional Senior Finance Manager, and Regional Finance Manager.

Key Result Areas

1. Process and prepare financial and project reports for the purpose of checking account balances, facilitating purchases, etc.

2. Review and adhere to department and project budgets.

3. Perform routine accounting to produce analyses and reports as requested by the Regional Finance Manager.

4. Support in overseeing and managing country procurement and accounting.

5. Creating, sending, and following- up on invoices.

6. Collect and enter data for various financial spreadsheets.

7. Review and audit financial statements and reports, and ensure all calculations and data entries are correct.

8. Reconcile any discrepancies and errors identified.

9. Report any troubling discoveries or suspicions of wrongdoing to proper authorities.

10. Collect information for and prepare payroll payments for employees.

11. Assist the Finance Manager in creating financial reports on a regular basis.

12. Adhere to the organization’s financial policies and procedures.

13. Answer questions and provide assistance to stakeholders as needed.

14. Attend finance department and organization-wide meetings and assist with financial reporting to project managers and senior executives.

15. Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions.

Knowledge and experience

  • Relevant academic level education, Master’s or higher – in a relevant field e.g. Accounting, Audit, Commerce, MBA, etc.
  • CPA(K)/ ACCA.
  • At least three (3) years of experience.
  • Understanding of accounting software, systems, and standards.
  • Understand the funding environment and funder requirements.

 

Specific job requirements

  • Accounting skills.
  • Financial reporting and commercial acumen.
  • Computer skills: proficient at using Excel and accounting software.
  • Problem-solving orientation and analytical thinking.
  • Proactive in asking questions and asking for help when needed.

Salary:  Commensurate with experience
