Background: Mildmay International Kenya (MIK) is a leading national Public Benefit Organization committed to improving health and social equity. Since its establishment in 2003, MIK has spearheaded transformative initiatives, delivering community-based programs that support sustainable health improvements. MIK is currently implementing a TB intervention project in Bungoma and Vihiga Counties, funded by the Global Fund through AMREF Health Africa. This initiative focuses on strengthening TB case detection, treatment adherence and prevention strategies in Bungoma and Vihiga Counties.

Job Summary:

Responsible for supporting and ensuring the implementation of all modules under the Global Fund TB program in the supported Sub Counties in Bungoma.

Safeguarding: This position requires the post holder to have regular contact with vulnerable individuals, including children. Therefore, the candidate must have no record of safeguarding or criminal violations. The post holder is also required to comply with Mildmay’s safeguarding policies and guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the Global Fund program activities in the selected sub-counties.
  • Plan and Coordinate the community mobilization activities for participation in TB
  • In collaboration with Community Health Assistants (CHAs), actively monitor and supervise Community Health Promoters (CHPs) whilst they support identification, defaulter tracing, follow-up of TB patients and activities to ensure quality service provision.
  • In collaboration with CHAs, Plan and coordinate review meetings with CHVs in their respective sites and ensure timely submission of monthly reports.
  • Represent Mildmay International Kenya (MIK) in stakeholder meetings/forums within the supported sub-counties.
  • Support the M & E Team to collate relevant data from the health facilities and from the community health Promoters (CHPs) and be able to utilize it and conduct routine data quality check.
  • Prepare timely monthly, quarterly and ad hoc project reports from the area of coverage and submit them on a timely basis to the Project Officer to aid in preparation of the main program report.
  • Participate in managing relevant project financial transactions
  • Participate in capacity-building activities, field visits and meetings with relevant partners and stakeholders to strengthen networks and partnerships for service delivery.
  • Participate in the documentation and dissemination best practices, lessons learnt and project human interest stories

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline such as Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Public Health or an equivalent health-related discipline from a recognized institution.

• At least Three (3) years of relevant experience in a busy NGO working in community health programming, preferably in the TB and HIV / AIDS field.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of key TB and HIV / AIDS policy issues
  • Analytical with attention to details
  • Must demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks and produce reports on time.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multicultural team environments.
  • Be willing and able to travel frequently within the country
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of SPSS, EXCEL and MS Word
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
