South Sudanese Women Building Association (SSWBA) is a Refugee Led, Non-profit Organization engaged in relief
and humanitarian initiatives to support women, youths, and refugees residing in the Kiryandongo refugee settlement
and the host community, through various demand-driven and human-centered programs. Our interventions focus on a

About the project
With support from YGlobal-Uganda, SSWBA will implement a project titled “Peace, livelihood, and Youth
Inclusive Policies in Northern Uganda” with the main objective of providing youth with livelihood opportunities
and enabling them to advocate for youth-inclusive policies and practices in Uganda. The project aims to foster peace
and social cohesion through comprehensive peacebuilding initiatives, robust advocacy efforts, and dedicated
psychosocial support involving the local communities.

Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on the availability of funding and performance.

Job title: Field Officer – Peacebuilding
Location: Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement
Job Summary
The Field Officer – Peacebuilding will be responsible for implementing peacebuilding activities within Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement. The role involves working closely with youths, and other vulnerable groups to promote peace, social cohesion, and advocacy. The Field Officer will report directly to the Program Director and will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of SSWBA’s programs in the field.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Implementation:
Conduct awareness campaigns and sensitization to promote peace among the refugee-refugee communities and refugee-host communities to encourage peace.
o Facilitate youth-led advocacy campaigns
o Form peace makers groups within the community.
2. Capacity Building:
o Train selected group members to build their capacity in peace building, advocacy, and social cohesion
o Organize workshops and training to build the capacity of youths in peace building, conflict resolution, and human rights advocacy.
o Facilitate peace and human rights focal persons in 10 groups on peace building center management and theatre for reconciliation
3. Community Engagement:
o Conduct peace outreaches and facilitate the formation of peace clubs within the refugee communities
o Identify and document community issues affecting youths and other Persons of Concern (PoCs).
o Facilitate youth participation in different forums, meetings, dialogues, and engagements.
o Engage with community members to understand their needs and challenges related to peace and human rights
o Foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among the community for sustaining peace and reconciliation efforts.
o Facilitate youth online engagements to amplify their voices.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation:
o Identify, collect, and document community issues to inform program adjustments and improvements.
o Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Program Director.
o Monitor the progress and impact of peace and advocacy campaigns and other peacebuilding activities
5. Coordination and Collaboration:
o Coordinate with other SSWBA team members and partner organizations to ensure the integrated delivery of services.
o Represent SSWBA in relevant forums, meetings, and networks to share experiences and promote collaboration.
6. Resource Management:
o Ensure the efficient use of project resources and manage project expenses in line with SSWBA’s financial policies and approved budget.
Qualifications and Experience
– A High school diploma or degree in Social Work, Peace and Conflict Studies, psychology, or a related field.
– At least 3 years of experience in peacebuilding, advocacy psychosocial support, or related humanitarian work.
– Strong understanding of refugee issues and experience working in refugee settlements.
– Excellent facilitation, advocacy, and community mobilization skills.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a challenging environment.
– Strong communication skills both written and oral and good interpersonal skills.
– Good report and proposal writing skills
– Fluency in English; knowledge of local language and Juba Arabic/Sudanese Arabic is an asset.
