We are actively expanding our avocado production and are looking to hire 2-3 dedicated and knowledgeable Field Officers who will support and empower farmers, contributing to a sustainable avocado production pipeline.
Job Overview:
The Field Officer – Avocado Production will work closely with avocado farmers across Kenya to onboard, train, and provide them with the technical resources and guidance they need to produce high-quality avocados. This role will involve traveling to various regions, developing farmer relationships, and ensuring compliance with company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Farmer Onboarding: Identify and onboard avocado farmers across assigned regions, ensuring they meet the company’s production quality and sustainability standards.
- Technical Assistance: Provide farmers with technical support, training, and guidance on best farming practices to increase yield and quality.
- Field Monitoring: Conduct regular field visits to monitor avocado farms, assess the growth stages, and provide on-ground solutions for any issues.
- Resource Provision: Ensure farmers receive the necessary resources, including fertilizers, pest management solutions, and other farming inputs.
- Data Collection: Maintain updated records on farming activities, yields, and challenges to help optimize avocado production strategies.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit field reports, sharing insights with management to help inform production planning and strategy.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, acting as their primary point of contact for technical assistance and feedback.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of field experience in crop production, preferably in avocado farming.
- Strong knowledge of sustainable farming practices and crop management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in basic data collection and reporting tools.
