Job Title: Field Engineer – Fiber Optics

General Description
The Field Engineer will play a crucial role in the implementation and maintenance of communication technologies. The responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, from surveying and deployment to support and decommissioning, ensuring seamless and efficient service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Perform splicing for fiber connections, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing signal loss.
- All media survey – Fiber, Wireless (Microwave bespoke, and LTE), and managed Wi-Fi.
- SDWAN, MPLS, INTERNET, VOICE, VMS and MANAGED Wi-Fi.
- Successful transfer of acquired skills to juniors and interns working together.
- Supporting in the completion of tasks assigned to others when stuck.
- Sharing the mandatory quality inspections for all sites done
- Collaborations with billing team by raising sales orders and sharing sign offs that are duly filled
- Carry out the safety compliance for every single site assigned and reporting on safety matters
- Pre-installation survey.
- Cable installation of both Ethernet and Fiber.
- SDWAN, MPLS, INTERNET, VOICE, and MANAGED Wi-Fi setup configurations and restorations.
- Carrying out preventive maintenance for all the sites supported
- Microwave radio alignment for signal optimization.
- Optical power optimizations for fiber.
- Relocations to all media connections on request.
- Equipment recovery: Microwave, Fiber, LTE, and Managed Wi-Fi including events setups
Requirements
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in network and communication technologies, such as CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator), or equivalent
Minimum Previous Experience:
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience in telecommunications, networking, or a related field.
- Experience with fiber optic installation and splicing, Ethernet cabling, and wireless technologies (Microwave, LTE, Wi-Fi).
- Familiarity with network configurations such as SDWAN, MPLS, and Internet services.
- Proven track record in performing site surveys, installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications equipment.
- Experience with customer service and technical support in a field engineering capacity.
Minimum Additional Training:
- Safety and Environmental Health Training
- Technical Certifications such as SDWAN, MPLS, and managed Wi-Fi services.
