Archipelago Farms is seeking a skilled Farm Manager with specialised experience in horticulture to oversee our expanding operations in the Mt. Kenya region. The Farm Manager will be responsible for the daily management of farm operations, focusing on our diverse horticultural crops. This role requires a blend of practical horticulture skills, team leadership, and a strategic mindset to enhance productivity and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of the daily farm operations, including planting, irrigation, pest management, harvesting, and post-harvest handling.
- Develop and implement crop management plans to achieve yield and quality targets.
- Manage a team of agricultural workers, providing training and guidance to ensure high standards of agricultural practices.
- Monitor plant health and soil conditions, making recommendations for improvements.
- Liaise with supply chain partners to ensure timely delivery of farm inputs and sale of produce.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and sustainable farming practices.
- Prepare reports on farm operations, yield forecasts, and other relevant metrics for senior management.
- Innovate and implement new agricultural techniques and technologies to enhance farm productivity.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in managing a commercial farm, with a focus on horticultural crops.
- Strong understanding of modern horticultural techniques.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
