Mildmay International Kenya (MIK) is a locally registered national NGO in Kenya since

We foster greater and meaningful involvement of our projects’ participants. We build viable, strategic, synergistic and sustainable partnerships with the Kenya government and her devolved systems, donors and other non-state actors to support coordinated and comprehensive development programs.

We are looking for a dynamic well qualified and motivated individual to join our team by filling the following vacant position:

The Driver will be responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services to staff, visitors, and project materials. This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to road safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safe Driving:
  • Operate assigned vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
  • Practice defensive driving techniques to minimize accidents and incidents.
  • Vehicle Maintenance:
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as checking oil, water, and tire pressure.
  • Report any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel promptly.
    Maintain vehicle cleanliness and organization.
  • Logistics and Transportation:
  • Transport staff and visitors to various destinations as required.
  • Deliver and collect documents, parcels, and other materials.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Administrative Tasks:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle logs and records.
  • Comply with organizational policies and procedures, including those related to vehicle usage and fuel consumption.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid Kenyan driver’s license
  • Minimum of 3 years of driving experience
  • Defensive driving training certification
    Strong knowledge of road conditions and traffic rules in Western Kenya
  • Excellent driving skills and a clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality
  • Basic mechanical knowledge is an advantage

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working with non-profit organizations
  • Familiarity with the specific areas of operation in Western Kenya
