HJFMRI Nigeria is seeking a Driver to drive an official vehicle to various locations in Abuja and on some occasions, to other cities in Nigeria. The Incumbent drives personnel and visitors to various locations, including ministries, embassies and other business organizations
This position will be in support of HJFMRI Nigeria activities.
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF’s support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
Responsibilities
- As HJFMRI driver, the incumbent carefully and responsibly drives an official to various locations in Abuja and on some occasions, to other cities in Nigeria. Drives personnel and visitors to various locations, including ministries, embassies and other business organizations.
- Incumbent provides daily preventive maintenance of HJFMRI vehicles, ensuring that the interior of vehicles is in a clean condition, checks fluids levels, hoses, belts and connections. Incumbent is responsible to see that oil, water and other vehicle fluids levels are within appropriate limits. Reports defects and malfunctions to the supervisor. Ensures passengers fasten seat belts at all times. Incumbent maintains a daily vehicle mileage log.
- Responsible for the prompt, efficient and careful operation of a truck in picking up, handling and delivering various commodities on and off-site including loading and unloading supplies, equipment or other materials. Must acquire familiarity with all site locations.
- Plans and participates in the loading of vehicles and maintenance of vehicle records.
- Participates in taking periodic inventories of supplies and equipment.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Ability to operate a motor vechicle.
- Incumbent must have extensive knowledge and understanding of the principles of organizational management. A good working knowledge of the Department of State regulations and procedures governing the use of motor pool vehicles. Knowledge of host country traffic laws and regulations and geography of the Abuja city and country in general. Must have a good knowledge of automotive operations, safety and maintenance practices.
- Must possess good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Physical Capabilities
- May require lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
- Operating motor vehicles, machinery, and/or power tools.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3-5 years experience required.
