Position: Uganda – Data Entry Clerk
Location: Kampala – Uganda

Background
Akros Research is supporting a program, funded by the Mastercard Foundation and in partnership
with the Africa CDC, to increase vaccine uptake in Africa. This initiative, called Saving Lives and
Livelihoods, includes multiple components and partners working to procure, distribute, and
promote vaccine uptake in a safe manner. As a part of this consortium Akros Research will
support Africa Union member states in the Eastern and Southern African regions to strengthen
vaccine safety surveillance systems.
The Data Entry Clerks will support the Uganda National Drug Authority (NDA) to help clear a
backlog of data and manage and maintain effective record keeping. The Data Entry Clerks will be
seconded to the NDA and will actively liaise with Akros Research senior management to facilitate
the realization of program objectives.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Review the DHIS2 weekly and monthly number of cases report and follow up on respective
district surveillance focal persons for case verification and reporting
2. Obtain follow-up information on cases notified through call centers, WhatsApp, the med
safety app, SMS code, and other platforms for case reporting
3. Update the annual AEFI line list with all AEFI cases reported and share with MoH
counterparts
4. Analyze the line list to identify and earmark cases that require detailed case investigation
5. Enter data from AEFI paper formats into Vigi-flow systems at NDA
6. Identify and correct data entry errors using appropriate quality control methods.
7. Manage and organize records and files.
8. Ensure completeness and organize patient case reports, investigation forms, and clinical
records for causality assessment
9. Maintain regular communication with implementation counterparts at the Ministry of Health
and the National Drug Authority
10. Ensure all forms and records are documented and updated.
11. Prepare relevant reports as needed and provide general data entry support across many
teams on an ad-hoc basis.
12. Other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or MBCHB preferred or any relevant field in medicine or
any relevant field.
● 2 years of data entry experience
● Excellent computer skills with fluency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
● Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and databases
● Candidate should work well against complex and challenging delivery schedules
● Candidate should be culturally adaptable and sensitive
● Demonstrated ability to operate with minimal instruction in a fast-paced environment
● Demonstrated ability to productively communicate remotely
● Ugandan national preferred
Location and Term
This position is contingent upon maintaining program funding and upon donor approval.
This position is for 12 months and will be based in Kampala, Uganda. The position is open to
local candidates and may involve minimal travel.
Reporting
This position will report directly to the Akros Country Manager, with a dotted reporting line to the
Pharmacovigilance Coordinator, at the Uganda National Drug Authority
