Background:

Mildmay International Kenya (MIK) is a leading national Public Benefit Organization committed to improving health and social equity. Since its establishment in 2003, MIK has spearheaded transformative initiatives, delivering community-based programs that support sustainable health improvements. MIK is currently implementing a TB intervention project in Bungoma County, funded by the Global Fund through Amref Health Africa. This initiative focuses on strengthening TB case detection, treatment adherence and prevention strategies in Bungoma and Vihiga Counties.

Safeguarding: This position requires the post holder to have regular contact with vulnerable individuals, including children. Therefore, the candidate must have no record of safeguarding or criminal violations. The post holder is also required to comply with Mildmay’s safeguarding policies and guidance.

Job Summary:

MiK is seeking a motivated and qualified individual for the Data Clerk position to support the TB intervention implementation in Bungoma and Vihiga Counties. The Data Clerk will assist in the accurate collection, entry and management of TB-related data, ensuring proper documentation and reporting of program activities. The role will involve working closely with the program team, Community Health Promoters (CHPs), Community Health Assistants (CHAs), TB champions and health service providers to monitor data flow, maintain records, support regular data analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Collection & Entry: Ensure accurate collection and timely entry of TB-related data from the field into the designated system or databases.
  2. Data Management: Maintain and organize data records to ensure proper storage and easy retrieval for analysis and reporting.
  3. Monitoring & Reporting: Support the Program Officer and M&E team by tracking program progress through data analysis, providing regular reports on TB activities and outcomes.
  4. Quality Assurance: Assist in ensuring the accuracy, consistency and completeness of collected data through routine checks and verifications.

     

  5. Support Program Activities: Collaborate with the program team to track and report on TB case detection, treatment adherence and prevention activities at the community level.

     

  6. Documentation: Maintain and update documentation related to TB program activities, ensuring compliance with MIK and donor requirements.

     

  7. Collaboration: Work closely with field staff, health facilities and other stakeholders to ensure that data collection and reporting processes are followed consistently.

     

Qualifications:

    1. Education: Diploma in Data Management, Information Technology, Public Health, or a related field from a recognized institution.
    2. Experience: At least three (3) years of experience working in data entry or data management roles, preferably within health or community-based programs.
    3. Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of data management systems, databases and data entry software. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant computer packages are necessary.
    4. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
    5. Communication Skills: Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage with teams and stakeholders effectively.
    6. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
    7. Other: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
