Rationale/Objective for Position
The Communications Support officer is responsible for various technical and administrative tasks supporting MSF Eastern Africa’s communication and fundraising department and other departments in the organization. This role will also manage and maintain the department archiving system.
This position will be hierarchically and functionally accountable to the Head of Communications and work closely with the managers of the various units.
Tasks & Responsibilities
General:
- Ensure regular dissemination of the MSF communication guidelines and support staff adherence to them.
- Work closely with procurement to ensure branding guidelines are maintained and followed.
- Assist in the layout and design of branded material (for instance merchandise, banners, brochures)
- Assist in the implementation of internal communications initiatives including staff surveys and training.
Media support:
- Generate and disseminate a daily press review to internal audiences. Carry out media monitoring and flag opportunities for coverage to the department.
- Regularly update the department’s media contact lists.
- Debrief staff and generate content for dissemination.
Digital support:
- Assist the digital team with managing social media queries
- Update selected content on the MSF EA website
Monitoring and evaluation:
- Compile the monthly team activity reports
- Compile and lay out the monthly Impact report.
Logistical and administrative support:
- Working with the engagement officer, organize and assist in running internal and external events
- Manage and keep the department pages on the office intranet updated.
- Ensure the department archiving system is up to date and kept organized.
Audio-visual support:
- On request, support the audio-visual producer with:

Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Media, Marketing/Communication/PR or any related field of study
Experience
- Graphic design skills
- Basic Photography, videography and editing skills
- Soft skills in media relations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong English & Swahili writing

What We Offer:
- An Open-Ended full-time employment contract through MSF East Africa Section Office in Nairobi, Kenya.
- An annual salary of EUR 15,176 at HQ Level 5 based on a full-time appointment.
- Social benefits package; allowances ranging between EUR 188 to 295/month based on individual & administrative status.
