Communications Associate (French)
Are you passionate about crafting compelling narratives and bringing impactful stories to life? Show Up Communications is seeking a Communications Associate (French) who thrives on storytelling.
What we’re looking for:
- A Master’s degree in French, Creative Writing, Journalism, or
- International Relations
- 3-5 years of experience in a newsroom or development sector, with a strong background in producing written content in French
- Fluency in French (C1-2 level) with excellent writing and speaking skills
- Proven experience in translation, writing, and editing communications products both in French and English
Key responsibilities: - Craft engaging copy of articles, reports, and social media posts, case studies, policy briefs, newsletters, speeches, and more-all in French
- Translate text to French and review French to English and English to French translations for grammar and syntax
- Fact-check and proofread documents to ensure accuracy and clarity
- Edit French drafts and transcripts improving grammar, style, structure,
- Simplify complex reports and policy briefs for a wider Francophone audience in Africa by making them clear, digestible, and engaging
- Develop scripts for podcasts and videos in French
- Collaborate with translators, designers, and other consultants to ensure seamless production and captioning of French multimedia content (subtitles/descriptions)
- Review French and English translations for accuracy and consistency
