Communications Assistant

Overview:

The Communications Assistant will support the organization in its mission to combat plastic pollution and promote sustainable waste management practices through digital and social media engagement, education, and data-driven advocacy. This role involves managing digital media communications, coordinating outreach activities, and supporting data collection and dissemination efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging multimedia content (social media posts, blogs, newsletters) to communicate the organization’s initiatives, such as clean-ups, and workshops.
  • Manage and grow the organization’s social media presence, ensuring consistent messaging and active engagement with the community.
  • Document events, including photo and video coverage, and share outcomes with stakeholders.
  • Promote events to local and international stakeholders, encouraging collaboration and partnerships.
  • Assist in analyzing collected data to identify trends and insights that inform advocacy efforts.
  • Support digital campaigns addressing problematic plastics and promoting alternative solutions.
  • Assist in delivering educational workshops on topics like upcycling, marine conservation, and sustainable living.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field. Strong communication skills, with an ability to write, edit, and present compelling content. Experience in social media management and content creation. Passion for environmental sustainability and community engagement.
