Commis Chef

Job Overview:

We are seeking a talented Commis Chef to join our culinary team. As a commis Chef you will be responsible for preparation and cooking of dishes in accordance to the menu and specifications set by the chef de partie or Sous Chef. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and cooking of dishes in accordance with the menu and specifications set by the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation ensuring all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned.
  • Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation standards set by the head chef or senior staff.
  • Ensure that food is stored properly to maintain freshness and avoid waste.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation.
  • Assist in the daily setup and breakdown of the kitchen, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Handle kitchen equipment, such as knives, blenders, and ovens, with care and according to safety standards.
  • Contribute to maintaining inventory and ordering supplies as directed.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods.
  • Diploma / Certificate in Culinary or in related fields.
