Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Clinical Officer at Saracen Uganda Limited in Kampala. The Clinical Officer will be responsible for medicine administration, patient care, training, and collaborating with physicians.

Duties and Responsibilities

To assist in the delivery of high quality and efficient medical care and to promote Health care and ensure that a consistent excellent level of service is provided to patients and clients.

• History taking, physical examination, ordering appropriate, laboratory investigations and make appropriate diagnosis, handling patient data / information confidentially always.

• Attend to emergencies presenting to the clinic and recommend referrals for cases that cannot be managed at Saracen clinics.

• Attend ward rounds and participate in multidisciplinary patient care.

• Ensure that all required observations and vitals, prescribed treatment and procedures are carried out and documented. Keeping and Maintaining complete and up to date client records in collaboration with the MoH guidelines.

• Boost patient experiences, including counselling and sensitizing patients through health talks that are preventive and promote health.

• Consistent track records to work and deliver results with minimum supervision.

• Be responsible for drugs/supplies, work with the HR department on essential drugs required at Saracen offices and ensure rational use. Ensure that the clinic is well stocked at all times for basic on-site health interventions

• Prepare and superintend over the medical budget for emergency and or First Aid Care.

• Train, coach and follow up subordinates

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Nursing
  • Specializations in (Advanced Trauma Life Support, Basic Life support, Advance Life Support, First Aid, and Emergency care) are of a great advantage.

Required skills

• Flexible and adaptable to various working conditions.

• Team oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure in a stressful environment, displaying resilience, compassion, empathy and sympathy.

• Being physically fit and able to travel for long distances in difficult road conditions.

• Proficiency in English, verbal and written.

• Ability to work under minimum supervision and willing to stay overnight in remote villages and forested areas.

• Must be computer literate, in particular use of Microsoft office packages, and emailing.

• Attention to detail.
