The Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa is an Institution of Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya which is an Agency of Aga Khan Development Network. The Hospital is part of an integrated health system that includes Hospitals and outreach health centers across East Africa. The Hospital seeks to recruit ideal candidate for the following position:
1. Clinical Nurse (1 position) – Mwatate OHC
Reporting to the Clinical Officer and Head of Nursing (or his/her designee), the successful candidate will be expected to provide high quality nursing services including performing necessary procedures, while maintaining high professional standards of nursing care to meet the needs of patients in all the necessary aspects.
Key Responsibilities.
- Complete head-to-toe assessment and re-assessment of patients to identify their care needs and utilize the hospital’s quality nursing processes in planning and executing care for patients/clients.
- Develop written care plans based on patient’s needs, as well as monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
- Carry out hemodynamic monitoring to include vital signs, neurological and fluid status, labs, and radiological evaluations.
- Document all assessment data, investigation results, care given, discussions with the multidisciplinary team, and family/patient interactions in an accurate, comprehensive, and timely manner.
- Administer medication safely, monitor patient responses to medication, and promptly report adverse reactions.
- Participate in nursing education, quality improvement (QI) projects, audits, spot and skills checks as well as ensure adherence to the hospital’s Prevention and Control of Infections practice.
- Be accountable for judicious and efficient use of resources including accurate and timely billing of drugs stocks and consumables.
Required qualifications, attributes, and experience.
- KRCHN/BSc Nursing from a recognized School of Nursing or University.
- At least two (2) years of clinical working experience in a specific unit.
- Excellent customer-centric and critical thinking skills.
- BLS certification is a MUST.
