Job Purpose
The Business Integrity Officer – 1UL & Global BI Project Manager Officer (“BIO”) works alongside with a senior member of the Business Integrity (“BI”) team to provide ethics and compliance leadership and support to all countries comprising the cluster internally called as “1 Unilever”, covering markets in Latin America, Europe, all of Africa and parts of Asia. The BIO supports the business leaders of 1UL, as owners of Code and business integrity risks inherent in their operations, to identify and mitigate these by reference to the Code and the tools that govern relations between Unilever and third parties. The BIO helps manage the Business Integrity Committees of the 1UL group, provides advice to the business on how to act within the Code, conducts risk assessments and trainings and supports investigations. Additionally, the BIO project manage key BI global projects led by other members of the BI team and assists in the running of the global BI team.
The BIO reports to the Business Integrity Officer – Personal Care & 1UL based in London, UK. In their role of PMO they will have dotted line to other senior members of the Global BI Team as required.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE ?
- Supporting Business Integrity Committees; share trends, better practices, and lessons learned; and provide advice to leaders.
- Promoting speak-up across the organisation and help employees raise concerns appropriately.
- Supporting the execution of the global learning plan, including mandatory and strategic non-mandatory training.
- Working with stakeholders to assure third party compliance program, e.g., due diligence, red flag mitigation, is implemented efficiently and effectively.
- Lead, participate or collaborate where required in the different risk assessments and audits.
- Leading or supporting investigations as required from time to time in collaboration with the BI Investigations Group and other members of the team, although it is not the primary responsibility of the role.
- Provide advice and oversight to assigned investigators to matters concerning 1UL countries e.g., BI, HR, Finance, Operations to assure quality of process and outputs.
- Escalate matters as appropriate, provide recommendations on sanctions and mitigation actions; assure accountability, consistency, and timely execution of corrective actions.
- Be the project manager for selected key global projects and for the running of the global BI team.
- Be an active contributor for the continuous enhancement of the Business Integrity programme
Key Requirements & Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field (law, business, compliance, etc) is an advantage.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in related areas.
- Knowledge and experience in business integrity risk areas, e.g., US FCPA, UKBA, and major bribery laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role in multinational corporation(s).
- Proven experience in conducting investigations in various areas like fraud, bribery, conflicts of interest, embezzlement, theft, etc.
- Experience in effective management and monitoring of 3rd party compliance risks.
- Experience on project management or central team’s management support (e.g. on a chief of staff type of role)
- Strong reputation for integrity.
- Focus on internal customers’ needs, ability to provide practical recommendations and solutions.

- Ability to exercise good and independent judgment.
- Managerial courage – ability to raise potentially sensitive and tense issues when needed to all levels of managers.
- Awareness of the current broader ethical agenda including sustainability, social responsibility, etc.
- Fluent in English. Proficiency in Spanish, Arabic or French is an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate to all levels in the company.
