About WAJAMAMA Community Health:

WAJAMAMA Community Health is a dynamic, women-led grassroots NGO dedicated to improving women’s, maternal, and child health outcomes in sub-Saharan Africa. Our mission is rooted in the belief that significant social change begins with improving early life stages. We enhance healthcare systems by providing capacity building and simulation-based training for nurse-midwives and frontline workers, alongside our innovative Group Care Model that we pioneered in Zanzibar. This model ensures essential health information and services are accessible to women and infants in economically marginalized communities.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Business Development and Finance Professional to join our team. This critical role will drive the financial and revenue generating strategy of WAJAMAMA Community Health. You will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, managing financial operations, and developing partnerships that align with our mission. Your work will support the sustainability and expansion of our impactful health initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • Identify and secure funding opportunities from donors, governments, and private sector partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing partners, ensuring alignment with our mission and values.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals and reports to funders and stakeholders.
  • Explore innovative partnerships and collaborations to expand WAJAMAMA’s reach and impact in new and existing regions.

Financial Management:

  • Oversee the organization’s financial planning and budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Manage financial reporting, accounting, and control activities to comply with organizational policies and legal requirements.
  • Implement robust financial strategies to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of our programs.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to guide strategic decision-making and identify areas for cost optimization.

Strategy and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with organizational leadership to develop long-term strategic plans that align with WAJAMAMA’s mission and vision.
  • Provide financial insights and guidance to support program development and operational planning.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teamwork to ensure integration of business development and financial operations.
  • Champion a culture of fiscal responsibility and strategic growth among staff and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, International Development, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development and financial management within the non-profit and social enterprise sector, preferably in health-related initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in securing major grants and partnerships with diverse funding sources.
  • Strong financial acumen with an ability to interpret financial data and develop strategic insights.
