ACAKORO NGO is an Austrian-Kenyan partnership project founded in 2013. For our Homa Bay Campus we are searching for the following position from May 2025:
BOARDING SCHOOL MATRON (m/f)
ABOUT THE ROLE:
You will be responsible for our beneficiaries in the ACAKORO Homa Bay Campus:
- Provide day-to-day care, support, and guidance to students.
- Monitor student health and administer first aid/medication as needed.
- Enforce boarding rules and maintain discipline.
- Oversee the cleanliness and safety of boarding facilities.
- Communicate regularly with parents and staff.
- Be on-call for emergencies and implement safety protocols.
ABOUT YOU:
Skills and qualifications required:
- Certificate in a Health-related course, Social Work, Community Development, Education, or a related field.
- Must be willing to live on-site or in direct neighborhood, providing care and supervision to students outside regular school hours.
- Compassionate and nurturing, with the ability to enforce rules while maintaining a caring environment.
- Resilient and able to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- 3-5 years experience
- Certificate of Good Conduct is required.
- Valid work permit in Kenya.
- You are able to communicate fluently – verbally and in writing – in English as the program is run in English.
- Knowledge in languages like German, French or Spanish are not a must, but an advantage.
- Excellent manners, kind conversational tone and confident appearance. You are always honest and a trustworthy person.
- You are a problem solver – you are proactive in identifying issues and address these thoroughly by making effort to find appropriate solutions.
- You have a desire to further develop your leadership skills and apply them to transform the lives of African youth.
