
POSITION: BIOMEDICAL ENGINEER
REPORTS TO: REGIONAL OPERATIONS MANAGER/ DIRECTOR

Job Summary:
Responsible for testing, installing, calibrating, maintenance and repair of dialysis machines, RO systems and other medical equipment in AHN dialysis centers within a region, to ensure quality and effectiveness of patient care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Centre Level Engineering
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot problems with RO systems, dialysis machines, and other medical equipment used by the clinical team
- Develop in depth knowledge in the field of dialysis, particularly the various machines and components needed to build and maintain a dialysis machine
- Understand the various Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) around Nipro, Fresenius and Baxter/Gambro dialysis machines including the differences between manufacturers
- Work closely with other medical professionals, such as doctors and nurses as well as with end-users (patients and their attendants)
- Training technical or clinical staff on equipment operation and maintenance
- Maintaining the equipment to the best of its performance by organizing a planned maintenance program for all equipment’s and attending to emergency breakdowns and repairs
- Ensure that any routine activities required within the centers are performed as required e.g. loop disinfection
Review the clinical reports from allocated centers to ensure that all BME issues are addressed - Carry out inspection & repairs of the equipment/machine within the region
Responding to issues reported on the ground per the TAT guidelines Think critically and solve complex engineering problems - Assist on other engineering and technical problems as they come up, including installation and maintenance of ICT equipment
- Liaise and maintain relationships with device manufacturers, suppliers and other stakeholders :
- Execute other engineer responsibilities assigned
Keeping record of the Spares/consumable items/ equipment history etc
Reporting and other BME oversight
Coordinating RO reporting from the centre level
Maintaining BME maintenance trackers
Coordinating monthly investigations at centers
Desired Competencies:
• Degree in biomedical engineering, biomedical science, mechanical/electrical engineering o related
Familiarity with health and safety/ quality standards
Excellent knowledge of MS Office Applications
Outstanding problem-solving skills
Willingness to travel 20% to 50% of the time Passion for AHN’s Mission
