
Job Title: Assistant Systems Administrator
Duty Station: Head Office
Reports to: Systems Administrator
SUMMARY
The Assistant Systems Administrator position is responsible managing and maintaining FINCA Uganda’s computer systems and networks.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Installing and configuring operating systems, software applications, and network services.
- Setting up user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Managing LANs (Local Area Networks), WANs (Wide Area Networks), and intranets.
- Implementing security measures, systems including end point protection to protect against unauthorized access, viruses, and malware.
- Regularly backing up data and ensuring disaster recovery systems and processes are operational.
- Assisting employees with technical issues, including hardware and software problems.
- Providing training and documentation for system usage.
- Maintaining servers, workstations, printers, and other hardware components.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware failures.
- Keeping software up to date by applying patches and updates.
- Ensuring installation and compliance with software & hardware licensing requirements.
- Coordinating with other I.T administrators to optimize system performance.
- Participating in planning for technology upgrades, purchases and improvements

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Computer Science or related fields
- Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Unix and Microsoft.
- At least 2 years work experience within a technical support environment, including hardware, software and network support experience in a Financial/Banking sector
- Skills in Linux/Unix/Windows system administration
- Knowledge of Enterprise Infrastructure (Servers, Storage, Switching) and Active Directory.
