Assistant Grants Accountant
The Role:
The Assistant Grants Accountant will offer support in effective and efficient management of various projects in World Vision largely WFP projects and other projects to eradicate the current backlog.
Key Responsibility:
Budget management and Financial Accountability.
- Updating all PBAS requests in a timely manner.
- Preparation of WFP cashflows and Amendments to the cashflows especially for WFP projects. This is very critical for WFP projects
- Preparation of the draft monthly financial reports for WFP (10 Projects)
- Booking of all WFP receivables through collaboration with the field teams -Invoices
- Creating Settlement Advices and following up on Blackline for all the WFP income received
- Update the Grant analysis and Salary and benefits tools respectively.
- Supporting in Ledger import/journal reversal of various expenses
- Funding of different invoices including Travel and utility invoices
- Receiving and reviewing partner expenses-VCI and Zamzam
- Supporting the invoicing process for WFP that is done monthly and is quite manual at the time.
- Supporting in raising the grants PRFs.
Essential:
- Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounts or Finance.
- Professional accounting qualifications CPA/ACCA Part or Complete
- Minimum of 1 year experience in financial and grants accounting working on World Food Programme projects is a MUST.
- Experience of in working in an International NGO.
- Proficiency in Computer applications (Excel, Sun systems, Word etc)
- Experience in sub-grantee management and capacity building.
- Advanced excel and analytical skills.
- Experience using Sun Systems and Info Q&A accounting software is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of the Somalia context is an added advantage.
Working Environment:
The position is office-based with frequent travel to the field.
