Requirements
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated assistant Farm Manager to assist the Farm Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our farm. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in livestock production and management, possess excellent leadership skills, and demonstrate a deep understanding of sustainable and efficient farming practices.
Duties/Responsibilities but not limited to:
Working closely with the Farm manager, he/she will be responsible for the planning, implementation and reporting the progress of all the Livestock’s project.
He/she will be expected to accomplish the following:
I. Operational Oversight:
· Assist to manage and coordinate all aspects of farm operations, involving livestock pasture production, animal feed production and livestock production.
· Work with Farm manager & the senior management to develop and implement strategic plans to optimize farm productivity and efficiency.
· Monitor and manage resources, including equipment, supplies, and labor, to ensure smooth and cost-effective operations.
II. Crop and Livestock Management:
· Supervise planting and harvesting schedules, ensuring timely and efficient execution of fodder.
· Oversee the care and well-being of livestock, including feeding, breeding, and healthcare activities.
· Implement best practices for soil health, pest control, and crop rotation.
· Monitor expenses and implement cost- saving measures where possible.
·Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
· Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
· Evaluate and recommend the purchase of new equipment or upgrades as needed.
· Stay informed about agricultural laws and regulations, ensuring the farm’s compliance.
· Maintain accurate records and documentation related to crops, livestock, and farm activities.
Additional Requirements:
Flexibility to work extended hours during peak season.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Experience:
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Livestock production, or a related field.
• Proven experience in farm management with a focus on livestock husbandry (goats, pigs, rabbits, chicken etc.)
• Those with certificate from agricultural institutions with practical experience will also be considered.
• Strong knowledge of sustainable and organic farming practices.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze financial reports and implement budgetary controls.
• Familiarity with agricultural machinery, equipment, and technology.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance with agricultural regulations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• MS Office literate
