The position

The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is an institution of the Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya, which is an Agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. The Hospital is part of a network of health facilities, which includes Hospitals and Outreach Health Facilities across East Africa. The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is in an exciting growth phase and has attained acknowledgment of its quality by achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, ISO 15189:2012 accreditation for laboratory services, Safe Care level 5 accreditation and is at advanced stage of attaining Joint Commission International Accreditation. The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu has Outreach Health Services at Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, Bungoma, Kericho, Kibuye-Kisumu, West End- Kisumu, Busia, Homa – Bay, Migori, Bomet, Eldoret, Kimilili and Nyamira.

The Hospital is seeking to attract interested and qualified candidates to fill the following position of Assistant Chief Cashier in the Finance Department.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

The successful candidate will be expected to ensure efficient, accurate, and secure handling of all cash transactions within the hospital and banking of the daily cash collections of the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all cash and cash equivalents from all cash points are collected and are accurately reconciled.
  • Ensure all cash collections from various cash points are promptly banked with the institution’s banker and that an accurate banking summary is generated.
  • Ensure that petty cash account is reconciled, and all approved petty cash payments are promptly made.
  • Ensure all approved refunds, and any other approved expenses are promptly paid.
  • Accurately posting of petty cash expenses to the correct GL expense line items.
  • Ensure timely reimbursement of all the hospital’s department s petty cash floats after proper review of all the support documentation for validity.
  • Ensure accurate counts and verification of inventory.
  • Conduct frequent spot cheques in all cash collection points of the hospital.
  • To ensure delivery of cost-effective services.
  • Prepare audit schedules and provide support documentation required by the auditors.
  • Participate in the fixed assets verification and tagging exercises
  • To deliver quality services in the operations.
  • To deliver customer service excellence

The requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option), CPA II or equivalent
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • A minimum of 3 years’ accounting experience
