ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

We provide specialized services in Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Dental, and Dialysis as well as General medical services. We seek to fill the following position:

Job Title: Assistant Accountant

Reports to: Finance Manager

Job Summary

The Assistant Accountant is responsible for carrying out day to day accounting transactions in the accounts section office and produces relevant reports for the relevant section

Duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Checks and verifies patient bills and NHIF claims.
  • Prepares discharge inns reports for management decision making.
  • Reviews monthly debtors report and conducts reconciliation exercise.
  • Receives suppliers invoices from stores department, counterchecks them against IPRs, LPOs and GRNs and ensures that they are properly supported and accurate before posting into the system and making payments.
  • Reviews payment vouchers and verifies them.
  • Checks of petty cash float with the supporting documents on behalf of the Unit Accountant.
  • Maintains the general lodger in the accounting /ERP system.
  • Itemizes suppliers payments in the respective supplier accounts are and ensures relevant bills are attached to the presented vouchers.
  • Checks receipts with system and ensure that the receipts tally with actual cash, cheque and credit card collections.
  • Participates in monthly reconciliation of suppliers statements.
  • Assist in analysis of (checks) consultants claims and payments to ensure that payment is processed based on receipts in the system and service rendered.
  • Prepares payment voucher for supplier and other creditors and recording of remittances.
  • Assist in the allocation of payment to the creditors ledger.
  • Ensures that unused cheques are in safe custody (lock and key) all times, cancelled cheques are properly accounted for.
  • Participates in the preparation of audit schedules for the relevant section.
  • Performs any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.

Essential Qualifications

Academic and Professional Qualifications

 

  • CPA II or any other relevant qualification

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience preferably in a hospital or in health services.
