Project Overview
Buni Media is seeking an experienced individual for the role of Animation Program Expert and Team Leader to oversee the training of young men and women in the counties of Nairobi, Nakuru, Turkana, Mombasa, Kakamega, and Kisumu. This initiative is part of a broader effort supported by MasterCard Foundation to empower youth with essential skills for economic advancement in alignment with the demands of the rapidly growing digital content industry. The program, set to run for two years, will engage young individuals across these counties through a hybrid model of both online and in-person sessions held at select hubs in the earmarked counties. It will offer animation training aimed at bridging the skills gap and providing opportunities for youth employment and entrepreneurship.
Role of the Animation Program Expert and Team Leader
To ensure the successful delivery of this program’s mandate, we are looking for a skilled Team Leader to manage the training pipeline and supervise the animation trainers involved in the project, ensuring effective delivery of project objectives. The Animation Program Expert and Team Leader will be responsible for the following key tasks:
Mobilization & Outreach
● Coordinate both online and offline efforts to engage local communities, ensuring that the program reaches the targeted demographic across the counties.
● Lead outreach and mobilization initiatives to raise awareness of the program and attract participants.
● Collaborate with local stakeholders, including government bodies, academic institutions, and creative hubs, to ensure effective community engagement.
Training & Curriculum Delivery
● Lead a team of animation trainers in delivering high-quality, hands-on training in animation.
● Ensure that training sessions are based on an approved curriculum and are aligned with industry standards.
● Support trainers in providing real-world projects and industry exposure to equip students with market-ready skills. ● Document and archive training sessions on an online learning platform for student reference.
Program Coordination & Reporting
● Oversee day-to-day program coordination, ensuring smooth execution of training activities and achievement of program milestones.
● Liaise with the project team to provide regular progress reports and updates on training activities.
● Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and milestones to ensure program accountability.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should have:
● Proven experience in managing animation programs and projects, preferably at the grassroots level.
● In-depth knowledge of animation techniques, including:
○ 2D Animation and Whiteboard Animation
○ Infographics and Motion Graphics
○ Visual Effects and Design
● Demonstrated ability to lead a team of trainers and mentors, fostering creativity and skill development among youth.
● Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders effectively. ● Excellent communication skills to engage with local government bodies, academic institutions, and other key stakeholders.
● Experience working with youth-focused programs is highly desirable.
