Position: Agronomist

We are looking for an experienced Agronomist to join our team on a 1-year contract. The Agronomist will play a key role in supporting farmers across Uasin-Gishu, Trans-Nzoia, and Nakuru counties by providing technical guidance and hands-on support. This position will report to the Senior Advisor, Climate & Agriculture, and the Agricultural Expert.

Key Roles and responsibilities

Understand the ResilienceAg! technology platform and work closely with the IT team to enhance system adaptability and usability.

Participate in consultative meetings with strategic partners, including banks and insurance companies.

Recruit and train farmers across designated counties.

Provide capacity building and practical training on best practices in agriculture, including land preparation, crop nutrition, pest and disease control, and overall land management.

Offer guidance on sustainable, innovative, and technology-driven farming practices to improve efficiency and productivity.

Collect GPS coordinates and detailed field data to generate reports on crop performance at different growth stages.

Complement Al-driven insights with physical farm visits to identify and address risks.

Cross-verify data from Al insights and field visits to ensure a comprehensive understanding of on-field conditions and challenges.

Provide timely recommendations to farmers to improve yield and mitigate risks.

Monitor crop health, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to improve farm productivity.

Generate detailed, regular reports on crop performance, incorporating insights from digital and on-field assessments.

Collaborate with project teams, partners, and stakeholders to share reports, highlighting key findings and actionable recommendations for farmers.

Continuously gather feedback from farms to help improve services and contribute to the platform’s enhancement.

Set up regular meetings with the management team to provide feedback and report on progress, including weekly reports.

Requirements

Proven experience in agronomy, with a focus on sustainable farming practices.

Strong analytical skills, especially in interpreting agricultural data.

Experience using GPS tools and technologies to capture farm data.

Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem- solving.
