Position: Accounts Supervisor
Location: Nairobi
• Overall Purpose: The job holder will be responsible for managing the financial health of the organization. They oversee daily accounting operations, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and lead a team of accounting staff. The role requires both technical accounting expertise and strong leadership skills to maintain accurate financial records and provide valuable insights for decision-making.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Reconcile invoices and identify discrepancies for various departments.
- Supervise and provide guidance to the accounting team.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of accounting functions.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide training for professional development.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Develop and implement efficient accounting policies and procedures. - Ensure proper maintenance of records and documentation.
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and ensure accurate posting of entries.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Ensure timely payments to vendors and collections from customers.
Expected Skills, Competencies & Qualifications
- They must have a degree in Accounting, finance or relevant field from a reputable institution.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification (preferred)
- Should have a minimum of strictly 3-5 years experience in a similar role including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Posses ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Posses ability to work in an extremely high-pressure and high accountability environment.
- Must have the Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
- Must have Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures and Familiarity with finance regulations.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- High level of accuracy in preparing financial reports.
- Good math skills Organization skills and the ability to spot numerical errors.
- Be proficient in Ms Excel and have Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g. Quick-books).
