Our client, a Government entity is looking for suitably qualified individuals to apply for the vacant position of Accounts Officer. JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTS OFFICER
REPORTS TO: HEAD FINANCE AND OPERATIONS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have:
- Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business administration or Financial Management with accounting option, or any other related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum level (1) of Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is a MUST.
- A minimum of 3 years working experience in Accounting and Finance from a reputable institution in the Pubic, Private or NGO sector
Should have knowledge of:
- Computerized accounting system
- Understanding of accounting principles ie IAS/EFRIS
- Company taxation in Uganda
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Verify the authenticity of all payments and ensure accuracy before payment.
- Manage debtors and creditors accounts in line with the Company’s finance policy and guidelines
- Reconcile supplier accounts and prepare payment schedules
- Prepare company Accounts, tax and statutory returns and any other financial reports required by Head Finance.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries and queries in liaison with the Head Finance
- Carry out bank reconciliations and prepare statements on bank accounts in line with UPHL financial accounting procedures
- Timely journalize inventory adjustments for purchase returns, expiries, damages, donations and internally consumed stock items.
- Prepare and post journal entries and pass them to the Head of Finance for approval
- Support preparation of periodic reports
- Any other duties assigned by head of finance and or Management.
