The role

This is a full-time role which reports to our Accounting Team.

The key roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to;

Cash and Bank Management

  • Weekly reviewing and reporting on cash balances and short-term cash needs
  • Preparing bank reconciliations and preparation of audit ready documentation
  • Reviewing of petty cash reports including disbursement, replenishment, and reconciliation

Monthly and Quarterly Closing

  • Posting of customer, supplier and payroll journals
  • Completeness checks with the AR-, AP- and expense- process owners
  • Identification of and reporting on unreconciled balances
  • Quarterly review of prepayment- and accrual- balances
  • Quarterly posting of depreciation and update of asset trackers
  • Quarterly completion of closing checklist for sign-off by Group CFO

Statutory Submissions

  • Monthly preparation of VAT, WHT and WH-VAT returns in multiple countries
  • Monthly reconciliation against financial accounts for approval by the Accounting Team Lead
  • Submission of returns and preparation of payments

Supplier and Staff Payments

  • Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments in accordance with agreed terms
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions and reconcile supplier statements
  • Handle staff reimbursements and advances, ensuring adherence to company policies

Your skills and experience

  • 1-2 years of proven experience in an accounting capacity
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree with Accounting option or other business-related course from a recognized institution
  • CPA (completed at least up to intermediate level) or equivalent ACCA qualification will be an added advantage
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Experience in working with accounting systems. Specific experience with QuickBooks Online will be an added advantage
  • Interest and ability to investigate and identify the root cause of issues such as unreconciled balances or account inconsistencies
  • Fluent English language skills, both spoken and written
  • Fluency in French will be a highly significant advantage
  • Interest and ability to present information in a clear and compelling way
  • Desire to work hard and continuously improve
  • Experience in the preparation of VAT and other statutory returns will be considered an advantage
