Accounts Assistant – NRC Project
Duty Station: Arua, Uganda

Job Summary: Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Accountant, the Accounts Assistant is responsible for assisting the execution and implementation of various activities within the projects’ Finance department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handling the Uganda Law Society – NRC Project payments and revenue;
- Preparation of Project Financial Report as guided and required by the donor
- Maintain the petty cash and other cash balances held by the finance department but in line with the financial guidelines;
- Maintaining both manual and electronic books of accounts the Uganda Law Society – NRC Project and in line with financial reporting standards;
- Coordinate the signing, by authorized signatories, of all processed payments Uganda Law Society – NRC Project after clearance of the HFA and CEO and within the established payment cycles unless otherwise directed;
- Promptly ensure that all signed suppliers’ checks under the NRC Project are expeditiously paid out to the respective suppliers and within established procedures to minimize risk of loss; Promptly prepare weekly and monthly project reports
- Ensure timely reconciliation of the projects’ accounts and clinic accountability
- Make all the necessary preparations for the Internal and External audits;
- Any other lawful duties as may be assigned by the Head Finance and Administration and the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Should hold a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Studies (Accounting option) or related field.
- CPA completed Level 11 will be an added advantage.
- NGO Experience is A MUST
- Excellent Knowledge of Quick Books, ERP based systems and Excel
Experience:
- A minimum of two years’ experience.

- High integrity, self-driven and able to set own work schedule with rigorous deadlines.
- Ability to initiate and complete assignments and to work under demanding circumstances with minimal supervision.
- Strong organization, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication as well as team building skills.
