We wish to fill the vacant position of an Accountant, on behalf of an undisclosed client, on Fixed Term Contract Basis to be based in Nairobi.

Job Purpose
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Finance & Administration, the Accountant will be responsible for managing financial activities and ensuring accuracy in financial records and reporting for real estate properties. The Accountant will handle bookkeeping, financial transactions, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and inventory management while supporting cost control and accurate financial reporting for projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Book Keeping and Financial Reporting
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
- Maintain accurate bank reconciliations.
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements
2. Budgeting and Forecasting
- Assist to develop and monitor Projects budgets and cashflow.
- Prepare financial forecasts to support business decisions.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
- Assist in cost control initiatives and recommend cost saving strategies.
- Assess cash flow forecasting accuracy, measured by actual cash flow versus projected cash flow.
3. Audit & Compliance
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Support financial audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
- Ensure proper documentation for financial transactions and procurement.
- Prepare and submit tax returns and ensure compliance with both county and National governments tax regulations.

4. Inventory and Stores Management.
Monitor and control the stock levels of material supplies and inventory.
Conduct regular stock audits to prevent discrepancies and ensure accurate inventory records.
Track stock and material usage and replenish as required.
5. Reports and Reporting
Ensure the documentation, preparation and sharing of:
- Bank reconciliation reports.
- Monthly and quarterly budget reports.
- Ad hoc financial analysis and reports as requested by stakeholders.
- Financial forecasts and variance analysis reports.
- Internal audit reports.
- Compliance reports for accounting standards.
- Updated inventory reports and records.
- Monthly stock audits reports.
Academic and professional Qualifications and experience required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA designation preferred or relevant accounting certification.
Three (3) years of hands-on experience in accounting or finance as an accountant with preference in a Construction Industry.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
