Position: Accountant
We currently have an exciting career opportunity for Accountant in Jubilee Life Company of Uganda.
The position holder will report to the Management Accountant and will be based at Head Office in Kampala.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Corporate Receivables Management (Reconciliation of corporate receivables)
- Analysis of outstanding receivables and giving comments on all debtors above 30 days
- Conduct outbound calls to potential customers to promote Jubilee retail life and pension products.
- Liaise with Business development team on collections and also follow up with respective stakeholders.
- Timely Receipting of All Group Life Premiums
- Ensure timely filing of all the returns (ITL & PIR)
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register to ensure that it is comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date.
- Perform regular reconciliations of Assigned General Ledger Accounts and debt balances.
- Stay updated on emerging trends, best practices, and industry benchmarks related to IFRS17 implementation and compliance.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

KEY COMPETENCIES
- An eye for accuracy and precision in recording financial transactions and performing reconciliations.
- Strong analytical abilities to analyze financial data and resolve discrepancies.
- Effective time management skills to meet deadlines for financial reporting and reconciliations.
- Basic understanding of financial concepts and accounting principles relevant to the role
- Ability to work as part of a team, liaising with other departments and stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or any other related course
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA).
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar position
- Significant experience in the insurance industry and knowledge of insurance accounting standards.
