The Kenyan entity is recruiting for an Accountant who will be responsible for a wide variety of finance-related and operational tasks. The position is ideal for a qualified finance individual that is diligent and keen to learn about the business.
Minimum requirements
- Accounting degree, ACCA and/or CPA, or equivalent
- 3 years commercial experience.
- Working knowledge of IFRS;
- Good knowledge of Xero would be advantageous.
- People management skills;
- MS Excel / Google sheets
- Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment;
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to meet deadlines;
- Exceptional organizational, and time management skills;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Accounting:
- Process all accounting transactions in Xero;
- Prepare and submit statutory obligations and complete all reconciliations.
- Update income tax and deferred tax computations;
- Support and reporting to regulatory authorities
- Assist and manage suspense accounts;
- Completion of Annual return documents with KRA;
- Clear suspense accounts;
- Ensure all accounting records are maintained in accordance with IFRS and group accounting policy;
- Assist with budget preparation;
- Prepare monthly management accounts;
- Maintain banking matrixes for bank accounts;
- Identify and capture of intercompany transactions;
- Ensure intercompany and related party balances reconcile
- Manage supplier ledger, payments and creditors reconciliation;
- Bank reconciliations;
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations;
- Ensure salaries journals are captured correctly;
- Reconcile salaries creditors accounts;
- Operational Processes:
- Responsible for Kenyan operational systems.
- Ensure Xero is in line with lending system.
- Filing of all supporting documentation.
- Loan disbursement management.
- Treasury and bank balances management
- Maintaining the fixed asset register and leading annual physical verification exercise.
- Monthly payroll processing and related tasks;
- Manage small balance write up/write down;
- Other:
- Assist operationally when required;
- Assist with client account queries.
- Assist with external and internal audits;
- Completion and submission of statutory documents with relative authorities.
- Maintain secretarial and shareholder documentation and folders;
- Communicate and assist with adhoc banking requirements.
