Kitovu Mobile is a non-discriminatory faith based not-for profit organization under the Diocese of Masaka, Uganda. It was founded by the Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMM) in 1987. It was registered in 2013 as a company limited by guarantee under the names of Kitovu Mobile Limited. Our Vision is an Empowered and Healthier communities copying effectively with the impact of HIV and AIDS and other life threatening illnesses.
Kitovu Mobile is located within Masaka City, Uganda and conducts health interventions in 9 Districts of Greater Masaka under the key service areas: Provides Cancer Prevention and Palliative care services to eligible individuals and families;
Protects and Promotes Children and Women rights; Prevents Gender- based violence and HIV among Adolescent Girls and Young Women; Protects Orphans and Vulnerable Children and increasing resilience of their caregivers; Provides General Medical services HIV/TB Care and Treatment and Maternity services; and others. Accountant
The Accountant serves as the head of Finance Department of Kitovu Mobile. The primary goal of the function is to maintain enough supply of funds for the organization, maximize the value of the funds and ensure that financial resources are used in the most effective way possible that will help the organization grow and flourish in the long-run.
Key Result Areas includes
- Prioritize financial planning to guide direction, action, and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts for all financial transactions.
- Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff while recommending further courses of action.
- Appropriate Cash Flow Management to ensure liquidity and forecast future requirements.
- Carry out reconciliations to verify that financial records and accounting figures align and are without any errors.
- Have in place controls that prevent fraud, promote accountability and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Ensure maximum generation of funds and the respective utilization in the maximum possible way.
- Embrace risk and security management to protect an organization from potential losses or threats to continued operation.
- Track assets and find ways to maximize their performance to save money, avoid abuse or reduce wastage.
- Manage receivables to avoid disputes and minimize bad debt losses.
- Manage payables to maintain strong relationships with suppliers and to ensure that cash flow remains manageable.
- Tax planning to leverage tax exemption policies to reduce tax liabilities and Tax Reporting to ensure effective tax documentation and filing due returns.
- Enforce compliance to prevent and detect rules violations and to protect the organization from fines and lawsuits.
Job requirements:
- At least a bachelors degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field.
- 5 years of work experience in finance or accounting and may have held positions such as financial analyst, accountant, or controller in an NGO.
- Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA or similar will be considered a plus
- Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns
- Proficient user of QuickBooks Pro Accounting Software
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used
- Á solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
- Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
