
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and meticulous Part-time Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of financial management, including financial transactions, budgeting, reporting, and compliance. This role requires a proactive professional capable of maintaining high levels of accuracy and confidentiality while contributing to the association’s overall financial health and success.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting transactions.
- Prepare budget forecasts.
- Handle monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing processes.
- Ensure that all payments are made on time to avoid penalties and disruptions.
- Reconcile accounts payable, receivable and petty cash ensuring proper documentation.
- Ensure timely processing of bank transactions and payments.
- Prepare and manage balance sheets, profit/loss statements and other financial reports.
- Manage payroll processes, including statutory deductions and remittances.
- Ensure financial statements are published on time.
- Generate reports on the association’s financial health and liquidity status.
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and processes.
- Organize tax records, reconcile tax accounts, and prepare supporting documentation for audits.
- Manage debt collection and maintain a clear record of outstanding balances.
- Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary.
- Comply with financial policies and regulations.
- Compute taxes and prepare tax returns.
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and generally accepted accounting procedures.
- Member accounts invoicing(E-Tims), receipting and reconciling.
- Maintain updated member records and financial information.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned to you by the CEO.
Requirements
- At least four (4) years of accounting experience, preferably within a non-profit organization.
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis.
- Excellent knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles (GAAP). - Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting option), Finance, or a related field.
- Qualified accountant (CPA (K), ACCA) is an added advantage.
