
JOB TITLE: ACCOUNT OFFICER
TERM: SHORT TERM (3 MONTHS)
REPORTS TO: FINANCE MANAGER
JOB PURPOSE: This role is critical for maintaining the financial health of the organization, enabling smooth operations in the fast-
paced freight forwarding industry. This is a short-term contract.
The Account Officer is responsible for managing the financial operations of the freight forwarding organization, ensuring accuracy in accounting processes, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. This role involves handling financial transactions, monitoring accounts receivable and payable, preparing financial reports, and supporting budget management. The Account Officer collaborates with internal departments, external clients, and vendors to ensure seamless financial operations and contributes to the organization’s overall efficiency and profitability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Financial Management: Record and reconcile financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payments.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Monitor and manage outstanding invoices, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Budget Support: Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets to align with operational goals
Reporting: Generate periodic financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, tax laws, and industry-specific compliance standards.
Client Coordination: Work closely with clients to address billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
Internal Collaboration: Coordinate with logistics, sales, and operations teams to streamline financial processes.
Audit Support: Prepare documentation and provide support during internal and external audits.
Cost Control: Identify cost-saving opportunities and monitor operational expenses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification ACCA / CPA (K).
- Proven experience in accounting, preferably in the freight forwarding or logistics industry will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in ERP software – Cargowise will be an added advantage
- Proficient in the use of MS Office suite (Advance Excel skills required)
Strong understanding of financial principles, regulations, and reporting standards.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
